Hello!

With the vast technological advances that we have experienced over the years and even those that are yet to come, it is quite evident that certain aspects of how we live have been made easier or manageable for that matter. The aspect of communication and how information is passed from one source to the other was no exception, if anything communication has benefitted immensely from these advances.

We’ve come from an era where all we had were landlines, fax machines and those ridiculously large computers, which of course were a significant upgrade at the time. And now we have phones, laptops, social networking websites, videoconferences you name it. Whenever you need to send a message to your folks or an email to your colleagues, you needn’t worry about how far they are or how long the message would take to get to them.

So convenient right? We’ve become so accustomed to it and who can blame us, if there is an easier and faster way to do something, anyone would opt for it. But here’s the thing, the advancement in communication goes beyond sending digital messages and making phone calls from overseas. I mean, nowadays, we not only talk to people but we can have actual conversations with every day appliances, even a refrigerator. Yes, there’s a fridge you can talk to.

Now before I digress from communication advancements to Artificial intelligence, my good friend Phillip did a blog on AI, so if you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it. To say the least, AI has really done the most with virtual assistance that help us stay connected and informed. Features such as:

The digital voice assistant in the 2020 Mercedes CLA 250 (feel free to check out this review) which is part of the new Mercedes Benz User Experience (MBUX)
Smart speakers, my personal favorite being the Amazon Alexa (Alexa) which is a virtual assistant AI technology developed by Amazon. It is capable of voice interactions, providing real time information such as news and so on and so forth. (Source: Wikipedia)
Bixby voice activator, which is a feature found in Samsung phones, but this particular brand has integrated Bixby in other appliances such as the Samsung Family hub smart fridge where you can ask Bixby what is in your fridge of which she would be able to tell you and even the Samsung 65 – inch class Q90R TV where you can use the feature to control your TV. The reviews I’ve watched were quite intriguing, you should check them out.

The list goes on, we have a lot to look forward to in the future as well, and it’s all inevitable if you ask me. But in our discovery, let’s remember the importance of human interactions as well.

Au revoir!
